Port authority suggest for vessel to have bow thruster since the berthing/unberthing are carried out without tugs due to the non-availability of tugs in Tumaco. If the vessel does not have bow thruster then the vessel must be assisted in/out by a tug that must be brought from the nearest port “Buenaventura”.
Berthing/unberthing operations can only be done during high tide, and weather conditions permitting.
DEPTHS:
Channel: 6.00 meters SW at zero tide
Alongside berth: 10.00 meters SW at zero tide

Kindly note that those are minimum depths and not drafts, any draft calculation or UKC have to be done based on the above minimum depth of 6.00 meters SW at zero tide. However please Port authority allows vessels to load their cargoes based on a max draft of 7.00 meters in order to transit the port on high tide, taking advantage of the additional 2-3 meters of high tide above the minimum depth.
It is mandatory at Tumaco to berth and unberth the vessels during high tide.

Please contact agents for any draft update.
